Microchipping Your Pet
Having your pet microchipped is a great way of helping the chances of your companion making it home should he or she get lost. It’s the quick, easy and painless way for your pet to carry a digital ID wherever they are – and be part of the UK Pet Microchip Registry.
Microchipping became compulsory for all dogs in England and Wales in April 2016 and although it’s not compulsory for cats we think it’s a jolly good idea for our feline friends too!
We recommend inserting a microchip which tells us your pet’s body temperature when we use a special scanner, minimising the need to use a thermometer for this. It’s a quick and easy procedure, where a small device, about the size of a grain of rice, is inserted under the skin just between your pet’s shoulder blades. This microchip holds a unique number which is associated with your contact details held on a national database. It’s important to update these details if you change phone numbers or move address.
To microchip your dog or cat for a small charge that includes database registration – where your they will join over 7 million others from all over the country, just make an appointment, by calling the reception at our Coalville animal surgery on 01530 836654 or by making an appointment online.
