Vaccinations

We believe annual vaccinations, along with a vet check-up from our Coalville vets, are an essential part of keeping your furry friend healthy for life: head to toe and nose to tail. Starter Vaccinations for Cats & Dogs

- For Kittens: Vaccinations protect against feline flu, enteritis, and optionally leukaemia, helping to safeguard their immune system and reduce the risk of serious illness.

Rabbit Vaccinations
Rabbits are at risk from two serious diseases: myxomatosis and rabbit viral haemorrhagic disease (VHD). Both can be spread by insects like fleas or midges, by contact with other rabbits, or even via clothing and footwear.
- Myxomatosis causes painful swelling of the eyes, ears, and genitals and weakens the immune system.
- VHD can cause lethargy, loss of appetite, breathing problems, bleeding, convulsions, and death.
The good news: a simple annual vaccination protects your rabbit from both diseases.
What you need to know:
- Vaccinate yearly, ideally before summer when insects are most active.
- The first vaccination can be given from five weeks of age.
- Pregnant does or breeding bucks need a special vaccination routine – speak to your vet.
- If you have cats, ensure they’re treated for fleas to prevent cross-infection.

Nurse Clinics
Behind every great vet is an equally great nurse. Our dedicated veterinary nursing team plays a vital role in your pet’s care and helps make our practice a welcoming, comfortable place for every companion.
Our nurses assist during vaccinations, surgical procedures, and blood sample collections – but they also run wellness clinics for healthy animals registered with our practice. These clinics are a perfect opportunity to ask questions about your pet’s general health.

Pet Weight Clinic
Being overweight can lead to serious health issues such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, bladder problems, and a reduced quality of life. During an initial consultation, our experienced veterinary nurses will work with you to create a tailored diet and exercise plan for your companion. We’ll monitor their progress, celebrate milestones, and provide guidance to help them reach – and maintain – a healthy weight for life.
Flea & Worm Clinic
Our nursing team can administer any prescribed treatments to ensure your pet is fully protected from parasites – you’re not alone if you find administering medication to your pet tricky!. If your pet is part of our Healthy Paws Club, these treatments are included in your monthly subscription! While your companion is with us, we’ll also check for fleas or flea dirt and provide personalised advice on the most suitable flea prevention for your pet and lifestyle.
Pet Dental Clinic
Your pet’s dental health is just as important as yours – and it plays a key role in their overall wellbeing. Did you know 80% of pets over the age of 3 suffer from periodontal disease? Bad breath is often the earliest warning sign. If left untreated, dental problems will progress and can contribute to more serious health issues affecting the heart, liver, and kidneys.
Our experienced veterinary nurses will check your pet’s teeth and gums, provide practical tips for home dental care, and help establish a personalised dental routine. If they spot signs of dental disease or other concerns, we’ll refer your pet to a vet for further treatment, ensuring their mouth – and their body – stay healthy.
Individual Puppy Clinic
The first few months with your puppy are a crucial time – these experiences help shape their behaviour and confidence for life. Their socialisation period is short but vital to development.
Our puppy clinics provide a fun, supportive environment where your puppy can interact and experience the world safely, helping them grow into a content, confident adult. These sessions also make visits to the practice a positive experience, reducing any potential fear and stress.
Puppy clinics are a great opportunity to ask questions, and our team will offer guidance on diet, training, vaccinations, worming, flea prevention and neutering.
We welcome puppies from two weeks after their second vaccination up to their first birthday. Come along, join the fun, and give your puppy the best start in life!
Microchipping
Microchipping is a simple, quick, and painless way to give your pet a permanent digital ID, helping ensure they can be safely returned home if they ever get lost. The chip, about the size of a grain of rice, is inserted just under the skin between the shoulder blades and holds a unique number linked to your contact details on a national database.
Microchipping your pet is a legal requirement! As of 10 June 2024, all pet cats in England must be microchipped by 20 weeks of age, and their contact details must be kept up to date. This law applies to all cats, including those that stay indoors only. Microchipping has been compulsory for all dogs in England and Wales since April 2016.
We even offer microchips that can record your pet’s body temperature, reducing the need for separate checks during clinic appointments. Keeping your contact details current is vital, so if you move or change your phone number, you’ll need to update your details with the microchip database.
