What is veterinary physiotherapy

How can veterinary physiotherapy help my pet?

Veterinary physiotherapy uses hands-on treatments, tailored exercises and practical advice to support your pet’s individual needs.

It can help with:

  • Recovery following surgery or injury.

  • Arthritis and joint stiffness.

  • Hip and elbow dysplasia.

  • Cruciate ligament problems.

  • Muscle strains and other soft tissue injuries.

  • Conditions affecting the spine and nervous system.

  • Maintaining strength and mobility as pets get older.

Our veterinary team can advise whether veterinary physiotherapy would be suitable for your pet.

Meet Emma-Jayne Rudkin

Emma-Jayne runs Transition Vet Physio and provides personalised care to help pets move more comfortably and enjoy their daily lives.

She is a member of the Institute of Registered Animal and Veterinary Physiotherapists (IRVAP) and is registered with the Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners (RAMP).

Her one-to-one approach gives your pet a familiar therapist throughout their treatment, helping to build trust and continuity of care. Working alongside our veterinary team, Emma-Jayne will tailor her approach to your pet’s condition, abilities and needs.

What happens during an appointment?

Your first appointment

The initial appointment gives Emma-Jayne time to get to know you and your pet, discuss your concerns and review their medical history and daily routine.

She will assess your pet’s movement and physical condition, then develop an individual treatment plan.

Depending on your pet’s needs, this may include hands-on therapy, appropriate hot or cold treatments, tailored exercises and advice on making everyday activities more comfortable at home.

Follow-up appointments

Follow-up sessions allow Emma-Jayne to review your pet’s progress, provide further treatment and adjust their plan as their needs change.

Appointment prices

Appointments take place at Cockburn Vets in Coalville and appointment prices can be found here.
